Sign of the Day, sort of

On my drive to campus, I pass an auto mechanic who routinely has some sort of pithy saying on one of those yellow moveable-letter signs out front. For the last few weeks it’s said “The most flammable type of wood is the chip on the shoulder.” Not bad, but not nearly so funny as what was on it this morning.

My boss told me
to change this sign today
so I did.

Sadly, I did not have my camera on hand, and by this afternoon it had been changed to advertise a sale on shocks. Oh well.

Form of the Week

So, in celebration of my having finished my first year of grad school, Joe and I are spending a few days at the beach prior to my cousin’s wedding in Easton. We hunted around and found a place that was the right combination of “not overrun with strange children” and “doesn’t require us to take out a second mortgage,” which made me very happy. However, after we did the initial booking of the room, they presented us with some extras we could tack on, such as champagne, strawberries, and (evidently) rental bikes made entirely of silk flowers.

It is unclear whether these come with or without pedal-clips, perhaps made of daisies.
